V1
You were supposed to have green eyes
And catch mine when you walked by
Standing under neon lights, like sign from above
Like fate chose us, for this love at first sight
I’d know exactly what to say
Even when you took my breath away
We’d talked the moon out of the sky
Stealing kisses all night, never wanna say goodbye
But thank God plans change
Chorus
‘Cause you’re better than a dream girl
I’ve seen girl, what I thought I wanted
You to be girl, but she girl
Up and got forgotten
A fantasy girl
Can’t touch the real world
‘Cause you’re better than a dream girl
V2
You went and took me by surprise
Out of the blue just like those eyes
Swore up and down you weren't my type,
That the story wasn't right, and neither was the time
But I damn I lost that fight
Chorus
‘Cause you’re better than a dream girl
I’ve seen girl, what I thought I wanted
You to be girl, but she girl
Up and got forgotten
A fantasy girl
Can’t touch the real world
‘Cause you’re better than a dream girl

V1
She’s been begging me
To take her down to the Florida Keys
Just her and me out on that white sand beach
Stealing kisses in the ocean breeze
Yeah, but she don’t know
I’ve made footprints in that sand before
And I watched a sun set on that Rockland shore
Felt everything she’s looking for
There’s a good few she can’t wait to’s that I’ve already had
And some you and me’s that her and me, won't ever get to have
Chorus
There’s a first time for everything
But you stole ours away from me
Wish I could go back do it all again with someone new
But I already wasted all those memories on you
Already wasted all those memories on you
V2
I brought her home last week
So much about it that I wanted her to see
But there’s just too much ancient history
This town’s a monument to you and me
The river rock, church parking lot and the whole damn Main Street drag
These county lines hold a place in time I wish she could have
Chorus
There’s a first time for everything
But you stole ours away from me
Wish I could go back do it all again with someone new
But I already wasted all those memories on you
Already wasted all those memories on you
Bridge
Well you’ll get all my yesterdays and everything that was
She’ll get all my last times, and I hope that that’s enough
Chorus
There’s a first time for everything
But you stole ours away from me
Wish I could go back do it all again with someone new
But I already wasted all those memories on you
Already wasted all those memories on you

V1
Sat raising a glass to 35 years
Daddy looking proud, Mama holding back tears
There was never a doubt in any one’s mind they’d make it
Always thought that was gonna be us
Guess we didn’t have it, whatever it was
I see it that now, but it’s still hurts to say it
Chorus
What do they know that we don’t
Didn’t they fight, did they ever come close
To packing it up, calling it quits
Were they one word away from ending up for this
How’d they keep that fire while we went up in smoke
Yeah, what do they know
V2
Another weekend, another forced smile
Another good friend at the end of the aisle
Yeah the dress looks like the one you said you always wanted
But I’ll still raise a glass to saying I do
Got my speech rehearsed when they ask about you
Yeah they look happy, but I can’t help but wonder
Chorus
What do they know that we don’t
Didn’t they fight, did they ever come close
To packing it up, calling it quits
Were they one word away from ending up for this
How’d they keep that fire while we went up in smoke
Yeah, what do they know
Bridge
Is there anything we could have done
Or something they ain’t telling us
Chorus
What do they know that we don’t
Sure we fought but didn't we come close
To never packing it up, or calling it quits
Were we one word away from ending up for this
How’d they keep that fire while we went up in smoke
If they were me would they have let you go
Yeah, what do they know

V1
Never seen nobody move across the room like she does
She likes to act a fool like she dont know what she do, but she does
And I never thought I’d end up with a girl like this
I couldn't tell you how I got her, I don't know what I did
To deserve a girl like her
But she does
Chorus
She knows I can bring a heartache
And I’ve given so many reasons she should leave
Well she gives and I take, but she still don’t break
I’m finding it hard to believe
That a guy like me
Could ever be good enough
I guess I’ll just call it luck
Don't know why she loves me, but she does
V2
And now she wasn’t the first to say those three little words
But man, when she does
She puts ‘em all to shame
They couldn't do it the same way that she does
Every single day that girl’s got me convinced
That there’s no way in hell she could get more perfect than this
But that’d be a lie ‘cause I see that smile
Then she does
Chorus
She knows I can bring a heartache
And I’ve given so many reasons she should leave
Well she gives and I take, but she still don’t break
I’m finding it hard to believe
That a guy like me
Could ever be good enough
I guess I’ll just call it luck
Don't know why she loves me, but she does
Never seen nobody move across the room like she does

V1
Went and made a fool of myself again
But if I know me, I’ll blame that bottom shelf and then
Start swearing up and down I’ve changed
That my heart ain’t broken from our break
And last night was the last time for sure
But you and I know I’ve said that I’ve said that before
Chorus
So I don’t believe me, don’t believe me anymore
‘Cause when I start shooting whiskey, know just what I’m aiming for
Yeah, I don’t believe me, don’t believe me anymore
Have ten too many drinks and then I’ll wind up at your door
‘Cause the sober me, he ain’t lying
But the man I am at 2am I just can’t fight him
So I don’t believe me, don’t believe me anymore
Not anymore
V2
But here I am at corner bar again
Talking some trash, throwing ‘em back with a few of my friends
They’ve been waiting for this day
That they never liked you anyway
And a beer ago, I might have said the same
But now they’re all gone, and it’s getting late
Not anymore
I don’t believe me, don’t believe me anymore
No, I don’t believe me, don’t believe me anymore

V1
You walk in the bar, everybody hands up
Throwing money at you like it was a stick up
You were shooting looks at me, trying not to get caught
I’ll give you everything I can
You take whatever you want
‘Cause everybody in here wants to be yours
So you should leave with me before somebody gets hurt
Chorus
I got a car out back just waiting on us
Let ‘em pay your tab, I’ll get it warmed up
And I got a hideout if we make it that far
We can ditch this crowd girl
I got a getaway car
V2
And you’ll never see a Pontiac move so fast
With your hand on my lap and my foot on the gas
We’re turning red lights green, and green lights blue
Well they’ll have to catch me first before they ever get to you
Chorus
I got a car out back just waiting on us
Let ‘em pay your tab, I’ll get it warmed up
And I got a hideout if we make it that far
We can ditch this crowd girl
I got a getaway car
Bridge
We could fly out of here, like a bullet from a gun
Girl let's just disappear, live our lives on the run
I got a car out back just waiting on us
Let ‘em pay your tab, ‘cause we’re just getting warmed up
Yeah, we’re just getting warmed up
Chorus
I got a car out back just waiting on us
Let ‘em pay your tab, I’ll get it warmed up
And I got a hideout if we make it that far
We can ditch this crowd girl
I got a getaway car
